Occupying most of this image is the Pantanal, a tropical wetland in Brazil and parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. The majority is located in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

It is actually the largest wetland, tropical or not, in the world, stretching over an area estimated at between 140,000 square kilometers (54,000 sq mi) and 195,000 square kilometers (75,000 sq mi).
