The rounded landform on the right side of this orthorectified image is the Kunisaki Peninsula. It is formed by large conical volcanoes, including Mount Futago. Twenty-eight ravines radiate outward from the peninsula’s center.

South of the peninsula is Beppu Bay. The city of Beppu can be observed on the western shores, and the city of Oita on the southern shores. West of the peninsula, along the southern shores of the Seto Inland Sea, are a series of cities including Bungotakada, Usa and Nakatsu (from right to left).
