This orthorectified image offers an excellent view of the Caldera de Taburiente on the volcanic island of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands. (Click here to compare with a previous, uncorrected image).

The caldera is 9 kilometers wide and 1500 meters deep, surrounded by mountains that vary in height from 1600 to 2400 meters. The deep canyon leading to the inner area of the caldera is the deep Barranco de las Angustias, meaning Valley of Fear.
