Vegetation Index of Western India South from Gulf of Khambhat12.5N 75.2E
This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of the western coast of India, from the Gulf of Khambhat (upper left corner) towards the southern part of the country. The gulf divides the Kathiawar peninsula to the west from the eastern part of Gujarat state on the east.
The vegetation index is good (green) along the coastal plain and near the shores of the gulf, and low (yellow) in the mountains of the Western Ghats and the central part of the country. Other areas near lakes and rivers in the central part of the country, however, do show a good index.
