Vegetation Index of Southern Myanmar and Andaman and Nicobar Islands16.0N 94.7E
This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of southern Myanmar, near the Gulf of Martaban, an arm of the Andaman Sea. Sediments from the Salween Sittaung and Yangon Rivers give the gulf a tan color.
The vegetation index throughout the image is mostly good (green), with some areas of high photosynthetic activity (rusty red) to the west, and some areas of low activity (yellow) north of the center of the gulf. Visible at the bottom of the image are the Andaman and Nicobar islands, which show an index ranging from good to high.
