Vegetation Index of Northeastern Brazil Good Parallel to Coast

7.2S 38W

March 24th, 2012 Category: Vegetation Index

Brazil - January 4th, 2012

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of northeastern Brazil. The strip of green false-coloring framing the coastline indicates good photosynthetic activity in that area, with the exception of a small area of northern coastline in the upper right quadrant that appears yellow, indicating low activity. This zone of low activity extends a ways inland, parallel to the east coast, before gradually increasing to patches of high activity (rusty red) near the left edge.
