Vegetation Index of Liberia and Ivory Coast

5.6N 8.4W

March 5th, 2012 Category: Vegetation Index

Ivory Coast - December 30th, 2011

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of the Ivory Coast (right) and Liberia (left), in western Africa. The vegetation index is lower to the north, as indicated by the yellow false-coloring, as one nears the Sahara Desert.

It becomes higher to the south, however, as one nears the coastline. Along the coastal plains, it is generally good, as evidenced by the green false-coloring, although some patches of high activity (rusty red) can be observed, particularly in Liberia.
