Ivory Coast - December 11th, 2011

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of Côte d’Ivoire (the Ivory Coast, right) and Liberia (left). Visible near the right edge is Lake Kossou, the largest lake in Côte d’Ivoire. It lies in the center of the country on the Bandama River.

The vegetation index is generally good (green), although it becomes progressively lower (yellow) as one moves northwards into the Sahel region. Some patches of high activity (rusty red) can be seen through the clouds near the coast.
