Vegetation Index of Liberia and Côte d’Ivoire5.0N 7.7W
This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of Liberia (left) and Côte d’Ivoire (right). Côte d’Ivoire (the Ivory Coast) is a country of western sub-Saharan Africa. It borders Liberia and Guinea in the west, Mali and Burkina Faso in the north, Ghana in the east, and the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) in the south.
Here, the index of photosynthetic activity is significantly higher to the south, by the coast of the Gulf of Guinea, ranging from good (green) to high (rusty red) along that area. Further inland, however, the terrain becomes more arid and the index drops significantly, appearing mostly low (yellow).
