This FAPAR image concentrates on Germany. Most of the area shows a good vegetation index (green), with spotted areas of high (red) and low (yellow) activity.

Around one third of Germany”s area is covered with forests. The country’s territory can be subdivided into two ecoregions: European-Mediterranean montane mixed forests and Northeast-Atlantic shelf marine.

The majority of Germany is covered by either arable land or forestry and woodland (31%). Only 15% is covered by permanent pastures.
