Vegetation Index of Côte d’Ivoire6.8N 5.2W
This FAPAR image shows Côte d’Ivoire, in western Africa. Côte d’Ivoire has an area of 123,863 sq mi (320,803 sq km) and a population (2009 est.) of approximately 20,617,000. The capital is Yamoussoukro, while the de facto capital Abidjan.
Côte d’Ivoire can be divided into four major regions: a narrow coastal region, an equatorial rain-forest in the west, a cultivated forest zone in the east, and a savanna region in the north. Here, the land closer to the coast appears to have a higher vegetation index (red), which gradually lessens although remains good (green) as one moves inland.
