This FAPAR image provides information on the vegetation index of Colombia. Areas colored green, dark green and red represent zones of good to high photosynthetic activity, while yellow zones indicate low photosynthetic activity.

Compared to neighbouring countries, rates of deforestation in Colombia are still relatively low. However, human induced deforestation has substantially changed the Andean landscape and has started to creep into the rainforests of Amazonia and the Pacific coast. Deforestation is also linked to the conversion of lowland tropical forests to oil palm plantations.
