This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of southeastern Brazil. Visible along the coast are the cities of Rio de Janeiro, appearing as a bright yellow area on the shores of Guanabara Bay, and São Paulo, a large yellow area slightly inland from the coast in the lower left quadrant.

The vegetation index is mostly good (green) throughout the image. Some areas of high photosynthetic activity (rusty red) can be observed scattered throughout, with a larger concentration southwest of São Paulo.
