Vegetation Index of China, Hainan Island and Southeast Asia

19.1N 107.2E

January 12th, 2011 Category: Vegetation Index

China - December 31st, 2010

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of part of China and southeast Asia, including areas of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia. The false colors indicate the strength of photosynthetic activity: from low (yellow), to good (green), to high (rusty red).

The countries show a generally good vegetation index. China’s Hainan Island is bright green, as is most of the country’s coastal here. A high index can be seen in some parts of Vietnam (particularly by the central left edge), and along the coast of Cambodia in the full image (bottom left).
