Madagascar and Mozambique - October 26th, 2011

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of Madagascar (right) and Mozambique (left). Visible between the two, in the Indian Ocean, near the top of the image is the archipelago of the French overseas department Mayotte.

Mozambique shows a higher index of photosynthetic activity than Madagascar. Areas of good activity appear green, while areas of low activity appear yellow. Mozambique shows one corridor of low levels of photosynthesis, while most of western Madasgascar shows these low levels.
