This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of central to eastern Cuba (left), Jamaica (lower center), Haiti (lower right), the Bahamas (upper left) and the Turks and Caicos islands (center right).

The vegetation index generally ranges from good (green) to high (rusty red) throughout the image, with a few small areas of low activity (yellow), mainly in the Bahamas. The index appears higher in Cuba and Jamaica than in Haiti.

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of the Yucatán Peninsula, in Mexico and Belize, the northern part of Honduras, and the central and western parts of Cuba.

The vegetation index throughout most of the Yucatán Peninsula is very high (rusty red), with some areas of lower yet still good (green) activity along its northern coastline and by Belize. Honduras and Cuba show mixed but predominately good levels of photosynthetic activity.

The vegetation index generally ranges from good (green) to high (rusty red) throughout the image, with a few spots of low activity (yellow). The index appears higher in Cuba and Jamaica than on the island of Hispaniola (composed of Haiti and the Dominican Republic).

Haiti and Cuba - July 12th, 2011

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of eastern Cuba (left) and Hispaniola (right), including Haiti (west) and the Dominican Republic (east). In the upper part of the image are some islands of the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos (north of Haiti).

The index of photosynthetic activity is generally good (green), with areas of high activity (rusty red) along the southeastern coast of Cuba and scattered across Hispaniola.

Cuba and Bahamas - February 17th, 2011

This FAPAR image shows the vegetation index of Cuba (below) and the islands of the Bahamas (above). A small section of the coast of Florida, USA, can also be seen west of the Bahamas (along the left edge of the image).

Most of the land visible here shows a good vegetation index, indicated by the green color. Some areas in western Cuba show a high index (rusty red), while other areas in eastern Cuba and western Andros Island (the largest island in the Bahamas) show a low index (yellow).
