As of 5 p.m. AST (2100 UTC) November 3, Tropical Storm Tomas is located within 40 nautical miles of 14.9°N 74.8°W, about 305 mi (490 km) south-southwest of Port-au-Prince, Haiti and about 250 mi (405 km) south-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica.

Maximum sustained winds are 40 knots (45 mph, 75 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 1003 mbar (hPa; 29.62 InHg), and the system is moving north-northwest at 5 kt (6 mph, 9 km/h). Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center of Tomas.
