Tropical Storm Talas (15W), is located within 30 nautical miles of 23.5°N 140.1°E, about 750 nmi (1,390 km; 860 mi) south of Tokyo, Japan. Maximum sustained winds are 55 knots (100 km/h; 65 mph), gusting to 80 knots (150 km/h; 90 mph). Minimum central pressure is 975 mbar (hPa; 28.79 InHg), and the system is moving north-northeast slowly.

Talas is a large storm. It is anticipated to gradually drift north and intensify into a typhoon. The area of 30kt winds or more ranges upto 600 km (370 mi) from the center and the area of 50kt winds or more ranges upto 190 km (120 mi) from the center.

JTWC’s forecast track shows Talas possibly curving east of Tokyo, which will likely endure Talas’ outer rain and wind bands come Thursday and Friday.
