Track of TY 24W

Tropical Storm Son-Tinh (24W), located approximately 60 nm east-northeast of Hanoi, Vietnam, has tracked north-northeastward at 05 knots over the past six hours. The current position estimate, based on recent satellite fixes and microwave satellite imagery, indicates that TS 24W has moved inland over northeastern Vietnam.

The system is steadily weakening due to land interaction and increasing westerly vertical wind shear. as ts 24w turns eastward along the northern periphery of the steering ridge axis it is expected to remain over land and continue weakening, dissipating below the warning threshold intensity of 25 knots by TAU 36.
