Track of Ignacio

Tropical Storm Ignacio, the ninth of the east Pacific season, has formed off the west coast of Mexico.

As of 8:00 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Ignacio was located near latitude 17.0 north, longitude 117.8 west, or about 655 miles (1055 km) southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.

Ignacio is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/hr). A turn toward the northwest with a slight increase in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/hr) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast before the system reaches cooler waters in a day or two.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 50 miles (85 km) from the center. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
