Tropical Storm 22W
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center has issued warnings for a tropical storm, 22W, which is expected to strengthen before hitting land over northern Vietnam, south of Hanai. According to Accuweather, the storm has already caused much rainfall over Vietnam, with almost 55cm (22 in) so far at Haikou, and over 41cm (16in) at Qionghai.
Tropical Storm 22W began as a low pressure area in the Gulf of Tonkin that was designated as a minor tropical depression by the Japan Meteorological Agency on October 13th, then later designated a tropical depression by the China Meteorological Administration and Hong Kong Observatory. On October 14th, the JMA reported that the depression had increased in strength to 46km/h (29mph) the JTWC began to issue warnings late in the morning.
