Tropical Depression 03E (Blanca) - July 8th, 2009

Blanca has weakened from a tropical storm to a tropical depression. At 2:00 AM PDT (0900 UTC) the center of the system was located about 600 miles (970 km) west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.

The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/hr) and this general motion is expected to continue for the next day or two with some decrease in forward speed.

Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/hr) with higher gusts. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). Additional weakening is forecast during the next 24 to 48 hours, and Blanca could weaken to a remnant low later today or Thursday.
