Area of Low Pressure Near Cape Verde - August 24th, 2010

A broad area of low pressure located about 125 miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands is accompanied by a large area of cloudiness and showers.

Although shower activity has recently become a little less organized, environmental conditions and computer models favor the formation of a tropical depression during the next couple of days.

There is a high chance – about 90 percent – of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves west-northwestward near 15 mph.
