Typhoon Nanmadol (14W), located approximately 345 nautical miles south of Taipei, Taiwan, has tracked northwestward at 6 knots over the past six hours. Maximum significant wave height at is 36 feet.

The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) in Taiwan issued a land warning for Typhoon Nanmadol Saturday evening, listing Pingtung and Taitung counties in southern and southeastern Taiwan as being most vulnerable to the storm’s impact.

Though the typhoon weakened slightly Saturday afternoon, its center had already entered the Bashi Channel and was continuing to move in a north-northwesterly direction, constituting a threat to the two counties, the bureau said.
