Area of convection in Indian Ocean - February 2nd, 2009

Formation of a significant tropical cyclone is possible in the next 12 to 24 hours within 140 nautical miles either side of a line from 15.0S 68.1E TO 16.2S 63.1E.

Winds in the area are estimated to be 23 to 28 knots.

METSAT imagery indicates that a circulation center is located near 15.1S 67.6E. The system is moving westward at 10 knots.

Available data does not justify issuance of numbered tropical cyclone warnings at this time.
