Tropical Cyclone 13S (Gael), located approximately 185 nautical miles north-northeast of La Reunion, has tracked westward at 12 knots over the past 6 hours.

Animated multispectral satellite imagery depicts a consolidating low-level circulation center (LLCC) with deep convective banding wrapping into the southeast quadrant.

This strong convective banding is wrapping into the LLCC and supports the current storm position and motion with high confidence.

The current intensity is based on Dvorak estimates of 55 knots and a QSCAT image depicting winds of 50 knots near the center.

Maximum significant wave height is 17 feet.
