Tropical Cyclone 13S (Gael), located approximately 170 nautical miles north of La Reunion, has tracked westward at 10 knots over the past 6 hours, and is approaching Madagascar (left).
Animated infrared satellite imagery depicts tightly-curved banding with a banding eye and overall significant improvement in organization over the past 12 hours.
The system has a tightly-wrapped low-level circulation center (LLCC) with multiple convective bands wrapping into a microwave eye feature.
The current intensity is based on an anverage of Dvorak estimates ranging from 65 to 77 knots.
Maximum significant wave height is 21 feet.
