Tropical Cyclone 07B Expected to Make Landfall over Southern India
Tropical Cyclone 07B, located approximately 560 nautical miles east-southeast of Chennai, India, has tracked northwestward at 4knots during the past 6 hours.
Recent imagery shows convective banding to the west of a partially exposed low level circulation center.
Upper level analysis indicates that vertical wind shear remains moderate over the system, but a slight decrease in vertical shear has been noted over the past 12 hours.
The system will continue to track northwestward to west-northwestward on the south side of a mid-level subtropical ridge to the north through the duration of the forecast period.
The moderate vertical wind shear over the system will minimize the development of the cyclone as it tracks to thte west-northwest.
The system is expected to make landfall over southern India after TAU 60 and will weaken after this time.
Maximum significant wave height is 12 feet.
