Tropical Cyclone 01S
Tropical Cyclone 01S has developed in the Indian Ocean, about 509km (316mi) west-northwest of Diego Garcia, an island that is part of the Chagos Archipelago, about 1600 km (1000 mi) south of the southern coast of India. It is the first tropical cyclone of the southern hemisphere season.
According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, the cyclone has moved southwest at 7km/h (5mph) over the last six hours, and is expected to gradually move west-southwestward to southwestward while slowly intensifying. It has a maximum significant wave height of 3.35m (11ft). The cyclone, however, does not threaten any landmasses.
