As of 11 p.m. AST August 30 (0300 UTC August 31), Hurricane Kirk (11L) is located within 20 nautical miles of 29.0°N 50.7°W, about 870 mi (1395 km) east-southeast of Bermuda and about 1495 mi (2405 km) west-southwest of the Azores.

Maximum sustained winds are 85 knots (100 mph, 160 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 980 mbar (hPa; 28.94 InHg), and the system is moving north-northwest at 11 kt (13 mph, 20 km/h). Hurricane force winds extend up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center of Kirk while tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center.
