As of 2 p.m. PDT (2100 UTC) August 30, Hurricane Ileana (09E) is located within 25 nautical miles of 20.5°N 114.1°W, about 315 mi (510 km) west-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.

Maximum sustained winds are 75 knots (85 mph, 140 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 979 mbar (hPa; 28.91 InHg), and the system is moving northwest at 5 kt (6 mph, 9 km/h). Hurricane force winds extend up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center of Ileana, and tropical storm force winds up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center.
