This orthorectified image shows the confluence of the Niger and Benue Rivers (top). The Niger can then be seen flowing southward through Nigeria, discharging through a massive delta, known as the Niger Delta or the Oil Rivers, into the Gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean.

Also visible near the coast is Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, Nigeria. Visible as a white area near the shoreline in the center bottom part of the image, it lies along the Bonny River and is located in the Niger Delta.

The cities of Port Harcourt (to the South) and Aba (to the North) can be observed in this ASAR image of Nigeria. Aba is a city and a big trading center in Abia State, southern Nigeria, located on the Aba River.

Port Harcourt (Igwe Ocha in the Igbo language), on the other hand, is the capital city of Rivers State, Nigeria. It lies along the Bonny River and is located in the Niger Delta, the many mouths of which can be seen here south of the city.
