The Gambia, Senegal and Guinea-Bissau - December 24th, 2011

This orthorectified wide-swath ASAR image shows several rivers flowing across West Africa to the Atlantic Ocean. Visible meandering roughly parallel to the top edge is the Gambia River. It runs 1,130 kilometres (700 mi) from Guinea westward through Senegal and the Gambia. It is over 10km wide at its mouth.

South of the Gambia River is the Casamance River. It flows westward along a path about 200 miles (320 km) in length, in the southern portion of Senegal between The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. Continuing southeast along the coast, one comes to the mouths of the Cacheu, Manchoa and Geba Rivers.
