A series of lakes in the Barkly Tableland of Australia’s Northern Territory are arranged in a roughly horizontal line: (from west to east) Lake Woods, Lake Tarrabool, Corella Lake and Lake Sylvester.

The latter two are so close together that they appear as one large lake in this image. Here, the lakes appear white in color, in part from sediments and minerals, and in part from sun glint. Visible to the north of the lakes is smoke from a wildfire.

This image stretches from the Gulf of Carpentaria (top), in northern Australia, to an area of the nation known as Channel Country (lower right quadrant), due to the numerous river channels that are flooded in times of heavy precipitation. Here, these river channels appear dark green.

Visible in the upper left quadrant are a series of green and white lakes on the westernmost edge of the Barkly Tableland in the Northern Territory. These are, from left to right, Lakes Woods, Tarrabool, Corella and Sylvester.

Situated on the westernmost edge of the Barkly Tableland, in the northeastern part of Australia’s Northern Territory, are several lakes: (from left to right) Lake Woods, Lake Tarrabool, Corella Lake and Lake Sylvester.

Sediments, minerals and algae make the lakes appear whitish grey in color, with green edges. Corella Lake and Lake Sylvester are so close together that they appear as one large lake in this image.
