Arabian Peninsula – June 17th, 2013

Dust continues to blow about the Arabian Peninsula. Here, it is most concentrated over the southern part of the Red Sea (lower left), Yemen, Oman and the Gulf of Aden (lower right). Some plumes can also been seen blowing southward over the Persian Gulf (upper right).

Arabian Peninsula – June 12th, 2013

Dust blows in the air over and around the Arabian Peninsula, covering the southern half of the Red Sea (left) and part of the Persian Gulf, near Qatar (upper right), where a thicker dust plume blows northwest-souteast. The veil of dust also extends southward over the Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea (lower right).

Red Sea – June 9th, 2013

Dust hangs over the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait, which connects the Red Sea (upper left) to the Gulf of Aden (right). The dust is most concentrated over the nation of Djibouti and southern Eritrea, by the entrance to the strait itself, although it also veils parts of Yemen, Ethiopia and Somalia.

Red Sea – August 27th, 2012

Several plumes of dust can be seen blowing off the coast of the African continent, over bodies of water, towards the Arabian Peninsula. The largest dust plume can be observed in the upper left quadrant, blowing northeastward over the Red Sea, off the coast of Sudan, near the border with Eritrea. In the lower right quadrant, dust blows off the coast of Somalia and over the Gulf of Aden.

Red Sea – August 11th, 2012

Sand blows over the Red Sea (upper left quadrant), between Eritrea (west) and Yemen (east). While the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait appears mostly dust-free, a plume of dust and sand can be seen blowing off the coast of Somalia and over the Gulf of Aden in the lower right quadrant.
