As more hot and dry weather and light to moderate winds are expected in Queensland, Australia, officials maintain the fire danger warning level at moderate to  high. Here, fires can be seen on the Cape York Peninsula, near the top edge, and near the Coral Sea coast, particularly towards the lower right.

Fires can be seen near the coast of Queensland, Australia, releasing plumes of smoke that blow eastward over the Coral Sea. Visible offshore is the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system. It is composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,600 kilometres (1,600 mi) over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres (133,000 sq mi).

A hazy cloud of smoke hangs over eastern Queensland, Australia and spreads over the Coral Sea. Several individual blazes can be seen through the veil of smoke, the largest of which is releasing a thick plume of smoke towards the northeast at the lower right.
