Algeria - December 27th, 2010

The coastline of Algeria along the Mediterranean Sea, near the border with Morocco, appears green and fertile in contrast to the country’s arid interior.

Algiers, the capital and largest city of Algeria and the Maghreb, can be observed in the full image as a grey area in the upper right quadrant in a semi-circular indentation on the coast. Algiers is situated on the west side of this bay.

In the dark green area south of the city is the Chréa National Park, located in a mountainous area known as the Blidean Atlas (which is part of the Tell Atlas).
