At 5:00 PM AST (2100 UTC) the center of Tropical Storm Philippe (17L) was located near latitude 24.6 north, longitude 56.6 west.

Philippe is moving toward the west-southwest near 12 mph (19 km/h) but a turn toward the west is expected overnight. Philippe is then forecast to slow down and turn sharply north-northwestward by Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next couple of days. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 85 miles (140 km) from the center. Estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).

At 11:00 AM EDT (1500 UTC) the center of Tropical Depression Seventeen (17L) was located near latitude 11.0 north, longitude 26.7 west, about 305 miles (490 km) south-southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands.

The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h) and this general motion with a gradual decrease in
forward speed is expected for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and the depression could become a tropical storm later today. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).

As of 11 a.m. AST (1500 UTC) October 8, Hurricane Otto (17L) was located within 30 nautical miles of 24.8°N 65.5°W, about 520 mi (835 km) south of Bermuda.

Maximum sustained winds are 60 knots (70 mph, 110 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 986 mbar (hPa; 29.12 InHg), and the system is moving at 12 kt (14 mph, 22 km/h).

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to approximately 30 statute miles from the center of Otto, with tropical storm force winds extending much further outward.

As of 11 a.m. AST (1500 UTC) October 7, Tropical Storm Otto is located within 30 nautical miles of 23.8°N 68.0°W, about 255 mi (410 km) northeast of Grand Turk and about 620 mi (995 km) south-southwest of Bermuda.

Maximum sustained winds are 50 knots (60 mph, 95 km/h), with stronger gusts. Minimum central pressure is 992 mbar (hPa; 29.29 InHg), and the system is moving northeast at 2 kt (2 mph, 4 km/h). Tropical storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 mi (165 km) from the center of Otto.
