Northern coast of Somalia - February 15th, 2009

The Surud Mountain range in northern Somalia, close to the Gulf of Aden, is visible as a dark green ribbon paralleling the shoreline.

Mount Shimbiris, the highest peak in all of Somalia, with an altitude of 2450 meters above sea level, is located in this mountain range.

The northern side of the range, facing the gulf, appears brownish-green and wetter, while the southern side appears yellow and drier.
