The Sierra de Baja California (also known as the Peninsular Ranges), running through the Mexican state of Baja California, occupies most of this orthorectified image. Part of the state’s coastline along the Pacific Ocean is visible to the left.

Of note along these shores is the town and bay of San Quintín, lower left, 300 km (187 mi) south of the San Ysidro–Tijuana international border. San Quintín is in the middle of an important agricultural area on the flatter coastal plains below the mountains. The island of San Martín can be seen offshore, west of the bay.
