Snowfall over Germany - January 12th, 2009

Germany, like much of Europe, has been experiencing cold weather and snow lately.

Most of Germany has a temperate seasonal climate in which humid westerly winds predominate.

In some parts of the country winters can be mild, whereas in the East, the climate is more continental, often with very cold winters.

Central and southern Germany (visible here) are transition regions which vary from moderately oceanic to continental.
