The Kameka Range, on New Zealand’s North Island, crosses the upper left quadrant of this orthorectified image. Moving down to the coast, part of the shoreline of Hawke Bay is visible, from the upper right corner to a peninsula jutting out near the center.

At the end of this eight kilometer long peninsula that marks the southeastern extremity of the bay is a promontory known as Cape Kidnappers.  It is located 20 kilometres southeast of the city of Napier, which can be identified as a white area on the Bluff Hill headland and the surrounding plain, reaching the shores of the bay.
