Somalia is facing its worst drought for at least a decade, says the UN. In the full image, dry areas throughout Somalia are visible.

Many cattle are dying from the lack of water, which is contributing to nearly half the population suffering from malnutrition, reports the BBC.

The UN humanitarian co-ordinator for Somalia has requested a dramatic increase in humanitarian aid, saying that although Somalis are not currently dying of starvation, some 3.2 million of the population need life-saving food assistance.
