The Yoruba Hills rise in a vertical line through the center of this orthorectified image, amidst the bright white populated areas of southwestern Nigeria. These rugged hills reach heights of 600 meters in the upper part of the image, while those below reach a maximum of around 400 meters.

The most expansive populated areas visible here are the cities of Oṣogbo (or Oshogbo), Ilesha and Ife, west of the hills, and Akure, east of the hills.

Akure (bottom right corner) is the largest city and capital of Ondo State, while Oṣogbo (center of left edge) is the capital of Osun State. Ilesha is located southeast of Oṣogbo, near the hills, while Ife is further south, between the two cities.
