Noto Peninsula is a peninsula that projects north into the East Sea from the coast of Ishikawa prefecture in central Honshū, the main island of Japan. Most of the peninsula and nearby lands appear forested and bright green, while cities such as Toyama, southeast of the peninsula, appear tan.

The city of Toyama is situated along the shores of the semi-circular Toyama Bay. Faint green sediments, best viewed in the full image, are present in the bay and spill outwards into the East Sea. The lower part of the image is crossed by vertical lines of clouds – condensation trails caused by passing airplanes.
