Styx River Sediments in Broad Sound, Australia22S 150.3E
Tan sediments from the Styx River flow into Broad Sound, a large bay on the east coast of Australia, located in the state of Queensland. The bay’s waters appear opaque tan closest to the rivermouth, then become greenish in color as they diffuse into the ocean.
Further offshore, a section of the Great Barrier Reef can be observed. Some of the segment visible here is part of Swain Reefs National Park, which covers an area of 0.58 km².
