Rio de Janeiro and Coastal Sediments to the Northeast, Brazil

22.9S 43.2W

May 12th, 2011 Category: Sediments

Brazil – May 1st, 2011

Much of the coastline of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro can be observed here. The city of Rio de Janeiro can be seen on the shores of Guanabara Bay in the lower left quadrant.

While the coastline in the lower part of the image appears clear, that to the northeast is framed by golden sediments. These sediments come from rivers such as the Paraíba do Sul.
