Australia - January 24th, 2011

The De Grey River is a seasonally intermittent stream that runs through the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Here it can be seen discharging into the Indian Ocean via Breaker Inlet about 80km North East of Port Hedland.

Running parallel to the bottom edge of the image is the Chichester Range, also in the Pilbara region. The range, darker red in color than the surrounding terrain, rises abruptly from the coastal plain and is composed of rolling hills, escarpments, jagged peaks, gorges and winding tree-lined watercourses.
