Namibia and Angola - November 5th, 2010

The large white area near the left edge of this image is the Etosha Pan, an extensive salt pan in northern Namibia near the border with Angola. It forms part of the Namib Desert, and is mostly dry although it sometimes acquires a thin layer of water after heavy rains.

While much of the image contains dry, tan terrain, the upper right quadrant shows greener vegetation. This land is part of the Angolan Central Plateau, which is crossed and irrigated by the Cuando River.
