The Tagus River and Lisbon, Portugal

Lisbon, Portugal - November 23rd, 2008

We have here a radar (ASAR) image of Lisbon, Portugal and its surroundings.

The most populated areas appear bright white along the shores of the Tagus River (Rio Tejo), in contrast to the darker, hillier terrain north of the city.

The Ponte 25 de Abril (25th of April Bridge) is clearly visible as a white line connecting Lisbon, on the northern riverbank, to Almada, on the southern bank.

To the right of the bridge, the radar also allows us to observe the currents in the Tagus River as it flows west into the Atlantic Ocean.
